Minneapolis Federation of Teachers (MFT) Teachers and Education Support Professionals in the Minneapolis Public Schools are on strike for safe and stable schools. This is the first strike in 50 years in this district.

In virtual meetings next week, hundreds of Minnesota nurses will push legislators to put ‘Patients Before Profits’

(St. Paul) – February 11, 2022 – At 9:30 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 14, 2022, members of the Minnesota Nurses Association (MNA) will come together for a kickoff event for their Virtual Week on the Hill.

During the kickoff event, nurses will share their stories and discuss the need for legislative action to put patients before profits.

(St. Paul) – February 2, 2022 – At 9:30 a.m. tomorrow, Thursday, Feb. 3, 2022, Minnesota nurses will join Senate Minority Leader Melisa López Franzen (DFL-Edina), Senator Erin Murphy (DFL-St. Paul) and Representative Liz Olson (DFL-Duluth) to announce new legislation to address the hospital short-staffing and retention crisis.

In recent weeks, hundreds of nurses spoke out about the conditions in Minnesota hospitals. Minnesota nurses are overwhelmed and overworked, hospitals are understaffed, and patients are overcharged by hospital executives trying to boost their bottom lines.

(St. Paul) – January 19, 2022 – This week, 672 nurse members of the Minnesota Nurses Association filed a petition with hospital management at six Mayo Clinic facilities, demanding action to curtail the worsening staffing crisis and recognize nurses’ sacrifices throughout the pandemic.

“Nurses continue to work under extremely difficult circumstances to care for our patients while Mayo CEOs make millions off our hard work,” said Kelly Rosevold, RN at Mayo Clinic Health System – Mankato.

Ahead of Legislative Session, nurses come together to demand action

(St. Paul) – January 11, 2022 – On Thursday, Jan. 13, 2022, at 10 a.m., nurse members of the Minnesota Nurses Association will host a tele-town hall with members of the Minnesota Legislature to demand action on the crisis of nursing in Minnesota hospitals.

Last month, nurses held a press conference to highlight the dangerous and unsustainable conditions inside Minnesota hospitals.

(St. Paul) – December 28, 2021 – Minnesota Nurses Association President Mary C. Turner, RN, today released the following statement in response to new Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidelines which slash recommended isolation periods and do not require a negative test to end isolation. The new guidelines also no longer require health care workers who are exposed to COVID-19 to quarantine if they are vaccinated and boosted. These new policies come as COVID-19 cases continue to surge in Minnesota and nationwide, including infections from the highly transmissible Omicron variant.
