Nurses to stand with Governor Walz, legislators against threats to democratic process by corporate health executives 

(St. Paul) – May 9, 2023 – Tomorrow, Wednesday May 10, 2023, nurses with the Minnesota Nurses Association will continue their sit-in at the State Capitol to tell Governor Tim Walz and legislative leaders that nurses have their backs as they stand up to corporate bullies. Tomorrow, nurses will set up an empty hospital bed in the State Capitol hallway to show the consequences for patient care when hospital executives fail to staff and retain enough nurses.

(St. Paul) – May 9, 2023 – Starting at 12:00 p.m. today, Tuesday May 9, 2023, until safe staffing legislation is secured for all patients at every hospital in Minnesota, nurses with the Minnesota Nurses Association will stage a sit-in at the State Capitol to tell Governor Tim Walz and legislative leaders that nurses have their backs as they stand up to corporate bullies.

(St. Paul) – April 25, 2023 – Tomorrow, Wednesday, April 26, 2023, nurses will line the halls and hold a press conference outside the Minnesota House chamber ahead of an expected vote on the Keeping Nurses at the Bedside Act as part of the Health omnibus bill (HF 2930). Tomorrow’s vote in the House follows passage of the bill by the Minnesota Senate last week as part of that body’s Health and Human Services omnibus bill (SF 2995).

(St. Paul) – February 14, 2023 – Tomorrow, Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2023, nurses with the Minnesota Nurses Association (MNA) will hold their annual Day on the Hill at the Minnesota State Capitol, calling on legislators to take action on bills to keep nurses at the bedside and protect the interests of patients, nurses and other workers in Minnesota.

This year’s Day on the Hill, the first nurses have held in-person since 2019, comes after the Minnesota Senate and House introduced the Keeping Nurses at the Bedside Act earlier this week.

Nurses have been back at work for two months since historic three-day strike, but hospital executives continue to commit unfair labor practices and refuse solutions to address care and working conditions at the bargaining table
