(St. Paul) – February 2, 2022 – At 9:30 a.m. tomorrow, Thursday, Feb. 3, 2022, Minnesota nurses will join Senate Minority Leader Melisa López Franzen (DFL-Edina), Senator Erin Murphy (DFL-St. Paul) and Representative Liz Olson (DFL-Duluth) to announce new legislation to address the hospital short-staffing and retention crisis.

In recent weeks, hundreds of nurses spoke out about the conditions in Minnesota hospitals. Minnesota nurses are overwhelmed and overworked, hospitals are understaffed, and patients are overcharged by hospital executives trying to boost their bottom lines. These conditions, created by hospital CEOs, are driving nurses away from the profession and hurting patient care.

Now, nurses will join legislators to propose legislation that would put patients and workers before profits to fix the under-staffing crisis, keep nurses at the bedside, and improve the quality-of-care patients receive at Minnesota hospitals.

  • WHEN: Thursday, Feb. 3, 9:30 a.m.
  • WHERE: Minnesota State Capitol Press Conference Room (B971)
  • WHO: Nurses and State Legislators
  • WHAT: Press conference to announce legislation to combat nurse staffing crisis
  • WHY: Because nurses are overwhelmed and overworked, hospitals are understaffed, and patients are overcharged by hospital executives trying to boost their bottom lines
