MNA RNs are speaking out against the proposed National Nurse Licensure Compact bill making its way through the Minnesota state legislature. If passed, this legislation would lower the standards of nursing care in Minnesota and put our patients at risk.
Please join MNA RNs like Lynn Hagen in voicing your opposition to the bill:
I have been an RN for over 30 years and have seen many changes within our heathcare system. We have seen changes in how our health care is driven, how the care is delivered and the reimbursement that drives it all. And although I need to be fiscally smart in how I staff my unit and meet the needs of my patients this bill completely ties my hands in many areas.
To deregulate puts my patients directly in harms way. I have first hand observed the differences between nurses skill levels in other states. I am proud to be a Minnesota educated and trained RN. My skill levels should be the same as for any nurse that works in my hospital. It is mind boggling, frustrating, and disheartening to think that a group of people with limited medical knowledge are willing to put legislation into play that waters down our level of nursing excellence. How can you, as a patient or a family member of a patient, expect a level of excellence in your medical care when you are voting to pass a bill that tells one and all that they don’t need to be that good? Please vote NO on this bill. We need to let medical care in Minnesota be the standard!
Sincerely,
Lynn Hagen RN
