(St. Paul) – February 6, 2020 – On the day that Fairview hospitals will cut Bethesda Hospital by half the number of beds, city leaders and patient advocates will announce a resolution to oppose the cuts and demand transparency from the hospital corporation.

Fairview set February 10, 2020, as the date Bethesda would drop from 90 beds to 50 and layoff hundreds of workers, including respiratory therapists, nurses, and healthcare aides. Now Fairview-owned St. Joseph’s hospital, also in St. Paul, is facing cuts.

City leaders and the No Cuts on Quality Care coalition of nurses, doctors and patients will fight these cuts and the lack of transparency around them. St. Paul city council members will introduce and vote on a resolution to oppose Fairview’s actions at the next council meeting.

When: Monday, February 10, 2020, 4:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Where: St. Paul City Hall, 15 W Kellogg Blvd, St. Paul, MN 55102
Who: St. Paul City Council members, Nurses, patient advocates of the No Cuts Coalition
What: Press Conference to announce resolution
Why: To counter Fairview’s announced cuts to Bethesda and St. Joseph’s hospitals as well as future hospital cuts
