On Monday evening, Lowry Ave. Bridge, I-35W Bridge, U.S. Bank Stadium and Allianz Field will be lit in red
(St. Paul) – May 6, 2024 – Twin Cities landmarks will be lit red tonight as National Nurses Week begins throughout the country. This evening, Monday, May 6, the Lowry Avenue Bridge and the I-35W Bridge in Minneapolis; U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis; and Allianz Field in Saint Paul will be lit red in honor of Minnesota nurses.

“This Nurses Week, I urge all nurses to stand together with our patients and the public in the fight to put patient needs before corporate greed in our hospitals,” said Chris Rubesch, RN, Minnesota Nurses Association (MNA) president.

(St. Paul) – May 9, 2022 – At 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 11, 2022, Minnesota nurses will hold a press conference at the Minnesota State Capitol to share the results of an annual report on Concern for Safe Staffing (CFSS) forms filed by nurses at hospitals throughout the state. The event comes as Minnesota nurses mark Nurses Week 2022.

For more than 25 years, Minnesota nurses have submitted CFSS forms when they are concerned that short staffing may negatively impact patient care.

There’s one MNA nurse who walks the extra mile to provide care… literally.

In spite of heavy snowstorms, MNA Hennepin Healthcare Visiting Nurse Amy Edelstein still finds ways to get to her clients – even on foot.

Following a heavy storm last February, Edelstein strapped on snowshoes to travel the 2.5 miles to her client’s home.

“I thought it was nice outside and I still get to see the client without worrying about driving conditions and parking,” she says. “I had my MVNA backpack with what I needed.”

It’s not the first time Edelstein has braved the elements to see clients.

Celebrations throughout the state, a proclamation by the governor, standing ovations in the Minnesota Legislature, and events around the world: people everywhere took a moment to recognize the wonderful nursing profession.

“Registered nurses strive to meet the different and emerging needs of Minnesotans in a wide range of settings, including large medical centers, local hospitals, outpatient clinics, psychiatric centers, nursing homes, veterans homes, addiction treatment centers, correctional facilities, medical rehab facilities, homes for the developmentally disabled, adolescent residential and secure facilities, community facilities, schools, and private offices,” according to a proclamation from Governor Mark Dayton declaring May 6-12 Minnesota Nurses Week.
