MNA-backed bills to put patient needs before corporate greed will be heard in House, Senate committees
Healthcare in Minnesota used to be about taking care of each other. But big corporations captured our hospitals, and now CEOs with million-dollar salaries run them like for-profit companies focusing on their own compensation and the bottom line. MNA nurses demand meaningful new regulations to hold hospital executives accountable to patients and workers, to make our healthcare system once again work for Minnesotans, not just hospital executives.
The bills to be heard in House and Senate committees tomorrow are: SF 4444/HF 4200, HEAL (Healthcare Employee Anti-Retaliation and Labor) Act, which would protect healthcare workers from retaliation when they take action to hold hospital executives accountable to safe patient care; and SF 4064/HF 4210, Improving Safety in Hospitals Act, to protect nurses and patients at the bedside from the violent consequences of CEO inaction.
Nurses will testify to the committees on these bills and will be available to speak with members of the press following their testimony. Details are included below.
