Nurses named most trusted profession in U.S. for 24th consecutive year

Nurses with the Minnesota Nurses Association (MNA) celebrated being named the most honest and ethical profession for 24th consecutive year. In the Gallup poll, conducted in December 2025, 75 percent of U.S. adults said nurses have “high” or “very high” honesty and ethical standards. The Gallup poll also found that nurses are the most honest and ethical profession, a position they have held for two decades. 

“Nurses work hard every day to build trust with patients for high-quality care in their communities,” said MNA President Chris Rubesch, RN. “This recognition directly reflects nurses’ work and dedication to the profession. It is essential patients feel safe to be honest, cooperative, and present for treatment. 

Despite this recognition, nurses continue to face difficult conditions as they try to care for patients.  MNA nurses will continue to sound the alarm for the Safe Staffing Bill, while hospital CEOs profit from cutting nurse staff, rates of workplace violence and injury increase, in addition to vulnerable communities that face further
