Sexual exploitation and trafficking are widespread problems across Minnesota and the Upper Midwest. Sex traffickers target vulnerable people, including minors and people experiencing homelessness, subjecting them to repeated trauma and exposing them to violence, health risks, substance abuse, mental health conditions, and isolation from family and friends. This presentation will empower nurses in any specialty or area of healthcare to respond if they encounter a patient who may be the victim of sexual exploitation. (1.5 contact hours)
