Join your fellow nurses in pressuring legislators to support the Keeping Nurses at the Bedside Act!

With a pro-nurse majority at the state legislature, the time is NOW to pass the Keeping Nurses at the Bedside Act (KNABA) and ensure hospitals are required to set safe staffing ratios. To do this, our legislators need to hear from nurses how important it is that we pass this legislation. Members will be calling other nurses and asking them to leave messages to their legislator in support of KNABA. MNA staff will train everyone before calls begin to ensure you have all the tools for meaningful conversations.

“Healing: When a Nurse Becomes a Patient” by Theresa Brown, RN (author of “The Shift”) (2022)
Despite years of experience as an oncology and hospice nurse, Brown finds it difficult to navigate the medical maze from the other side of the bed. At times she’s mad at herself for not speaking up and asking for what she needs but knows that being a “difficult” patient could mean she gets worse care. Her experience shows us how our for-profit health care industry “cures” us but at the same time leaves so many of us feeling alienated and uncared for. (2.0 contact hours)

REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED and will close 2 days prior to the event

MNA members bring the fight to the Minnesota State Capitol!

For each Mini-DOTH event, we’ll meet at the MNA office in St. Paul (345 Randolph Avenue, #200) to get a training about how our internal organizing skills translate to the Legislature and a briefing from our team about how the legislative campaign is progressing. MNA members and staff will plan out the actions and needs for the day, then carpool over to the Capitol to execute the action plan. Depending on campaign needs at the time, this could include scheduling meetings with targeted legislators (or searching for them around the Capitol), execute planned actions to build pressure for passing laws like the Keeping Nurses at the Bedside Act, or more.
