Mary Ann Giebink was a successful lawyer who lost her law firm and her reputation when she succumbed to alcoholism and depression, ultimately landing her in prison. The causes were numerous, ranging from the suicide of her brother to her stressful career. The question is not why she drank but how she put down the bottle and how her family helped her.

The Minnesota Nurses Association invites you and your students to participate in MNA’s Student Nurses Day on the Hill on Tuesday, March 19, 2019. The day will focus on briefing students about legislative priorities and facilitating their lobbying efforts with legislators. We aim to educate students about MNA and the political process, and ultimately influencing elected officials on nursing issues. There will also be an opportunity for students to meet and talk with MNA members who are leaders in their union and at the bedside.

Parking vouchers will be available for Capital City Plaza Parking Ramp

Nurses deserve to be treated the same under law in all areas of the hospital, no matter which unit they work on, when they are assaulted at work. Nurses know firsthand when they are injured on the job, patients suffer. Join MNA nurses this Friday when we testify in support of SF 541 in the Senate Judiciary Committee at 10:00am. This bill will create parity in the penalty for assaulting any nurse in a hospital. If you can attend this hearing in support, sign up here. For questions, contact MNA Political Organizer, Jackie O’Shea at Jackie.oshea@mnnurses.org.
