May 6-12 is a time to celebrate nurses and all nurses do for patients and their communities.
Nurses Week celebrations are planned throughout Minnesota, including an open house at the MNA office in St. Paul.
MNA nurses are sponsoring a wide variety of events, and businesses in some communities have special offers just for nurses.
MNA is holding an open house at the St. Paul office on May 11. . Enjoy exciting education sessions, food, and drawings – and meet other MNA nurses! Education session include Refusing an Unsafe Assignment, The Charge Nurse’ Role, Safe Patient Standard Campaign, and MNA Leadership: Empowering Nurses. Contact hours are available.
Here’s a partial list of other Nurses Week events:
May 9: Scrubs Night at the Minnesota Twins. Buy a ticket and receive a Twins-branded scrub-pants and watch MNA President Mary Turner throw out the first pitch.
May 10: Duluth rally
May 6-12: Nurses can cycle for free as many times as you want at Torque Cycle in Northeast Minneapolis during Nurses Week. To participate, use the code “nurses2016” on Torque Cycle’s website to reserve a spot in any of their classes.
Here’s what Torque said when they told us about the offer: “We have many nurses that come in to cycle, and we can’t express into words how thankful and grateful we are for all of the passion and dedication they have in and out of the workplace. They work so hard, and we wanted to do something to show our appreciation.”
May 12 and 14: Thief River Falls nurses are participating in the local King of Wings fundraiser for the Sanford Fundation on behalf of a youth activities center. On May 14, nurses will take part in the Glow Run, a 5 k night run with glow sticks to benefit the local D.A.R.E. program.
