Immigration Resources

Hospitals are places of healing, where all people should be able to receive care, without fear. We want to ensure nurses and patients know their rights and have access to resources if Immigration Enforcement officers show up to our hospitals.

Please note, nothing on this page or in these materials is legal advice; please contact your legal counsel for any legal matters.

Immigration Rights Resources

The National Immigration Law Center advocates and provides resources for immigrant communities. Visit their website to learn more and download their Know Your Rights card

MNA’s allies at Unidos MN have created the Serving Our Immigrant Patients flyer, a legal framework to prepare for ICE interactions.

The Trump administration is rapidly making sweeping changes that affect nurses and our patients in and out of the hospital. See NNU’s list of resources regarding these changes on their website.

Immigration Rights Badge Buddy

The Immigration Rights Badge Buddy is a tool to help nurses understand what to do and say in case immigration law enforcement officers show up at our hospitals.

After receiving your Immigration Badge Buddy:

  • Clip it to your work lanyard or where you clip your work ID
  • When needed, follow the steps listed on both sides of the Badge Buddy.

Side one:

Take these steps if Immigration Enforcement Officers show up at your hospital.
