Congress is poised to repeal the Affordable Care Act without a plan for replacing it. This would be devastating to millions of people.
The Center for Budget and Policy Priorities estimates that 380,000 Minnesotans could lose health insurance coverage if the ACA is repealed, and the Kaiser Family Foundation reports an additional 744,000 Minnesotans with pre-existing conditions would be at risk of losing coverage. The economic impact of repealing the ACA would be harsh as well:
- Rural hospitals’ survival at risk
- Multi-billion dollar deficits for the State of Minnesota
- Estimate loss of 53,000 jobs in Minnesota alone.
